Water Wisdom

Recent arid conditions in our region of Montana make us ever mindful of ways to conserve water. Becoming water-efficient is not difficult when we put our minds to it. Here are some ways you can stretch limited water in your landscape:

  • Water during cooler hours, morning or evening
  • Use mulch to limit evaporation
  • Practice deep watering with longer intervals
  • Use compost to help retain moisture
  • Group plants with similar water needs
  • Limit use of thirsty turf
  • Use dryland native plants
  • Install an irrigation system
  • Avoid water run-off
