Evergreens

We have a large selection of Spruce, Pine, Juniper and Arborvitae. Some are sold by the size of their container and others, such as Balled & Burlapped (B&B), are sold by their height. All are selected on the basis of excellent hardiness and attractive appearance.

Evergreen Landscape

Evergreens

ARBORVITAE: lovely evergreen with soft green foliage for hedge or accent plants; tolerates light shade and poor drainage; upright form. Techny and Brandon. (12-15')

DOUGLAS FIR: Montana native evergreen tree with pyramidal form; less dense than Colorado Spruce, and with softer needles. (40-60')

JUNIPER, Rocky Mountain: native evergreen with upright growth and dense branching habit; colors vary from blue to green; makes excellent year-round screen. (15-20’) Varieties include 'Cologreen': compact, cone-like habit with medium green, softly textured foliage (15-18'), ‘Medora’: slender-shaped North Dakota selection with blue-green foliage requires little pruning (10-12’), and 'Wichita Blue': broad, upright growth habit with silvery-blue foliage that retains its brilliant color all year (15-18'), 'Moonglow': broad, upright growth habit with silvery blue-green foliage (15-20').

JUNIPER, Creeping: beautiful, hardy, drought tolerant plants you won't have to fuss over. Varieties include Prince of Wales (Ht: 6"), Blue Chip (8-10"), Buffalo (12"), Alpine Carpet (12") Blueberry Delight (12"), Calgary Carpet (12"), and Skandia (12").

JUNIPER, Shrub-form: taller than Creeping Juniper; rich, green foliage provides year-round interest; arching, fountain-like branching; drought tolerant. Savin (Ht: 36") and Sea Green (48").

PINE, Austrian, LimberPonderosa & Swiss Stone: all are hardy and adaptable to many soil types and are valuable for windbreaks, but above all they are appreciated for their year-around, evergreen beauty.

Pine Cone

PINE, Bristlecone: dwarf, very slow growing; interesting growth habit with heaps of character; excellent for rock garden or as accent plant; not particular about soil, but requires a sunny location. (25')

PINE, Mugo 'Slowmound': slow growing evergreen shrub that might take twenty-five years to reach mature height; bright green needles season long; snap "candles" (tips of new growth) every spring to keep plant compact and tidy; likes sun. (3-4')

PINE, Mugo 'Big Tuna': tree form of Mugo Pine; dense, compact, and pyramidal; drought tolerant and excellent for screening; provides shelter for birds. (8')

PINE, Mugo 'Tannenbaum': tree form of Mugo Pine that has a more open habit than 'Big Tuna'; slow growing; extremely cold hardy and a great accent plant for year-round interest; Blake Nursery favorite. (10-12') see another image

SPRUCE, Black Hills: slower growing than Colorado Spruce; green needles and dense habit; native to the Black Hills of South Dakota; South Dakota state tree. (30-50')

SPRUCE, Colorado: magnificent tree well adapted to our climate; prefers good, moist soil in sunny location; blue or green needles; excellent for windbreak/shelterbelt because of density and size; provides good protection for nesting birds. (60-70')

Spruce Trees

SPRUCE, Globe Blue: slow-growing, compact, mounded form with beautiful blue needles; ideal rock garden evergreen; adds excitement to winter landscape; Blake Nursery favorite. (Ht: 3', Sp: 5-6')

SPRUCE, Dwarf Norway: very slow growing dwarf evergreen; ultimate size 3-4' height and width; green needles; prefers sunny site; a beautiful plant.
